The Gungahlin Jets proudly welcomed back members of our 2006 Premiership team over the weekend for a special reunion celebrating one of the most successful eras in club history.

The occasion marked 20 years since the 2006 Men’s First Grade Premiership: the first of three consecutive premierships that cemented the Jets as a powerhouse of Canberra football. It was fantastic to see so many former players, coaches, officials and supporters back around the club, sharing stories, reconnecting with teammates and reliving memories from a remarkable period in Jets history.

The weekend also marked ten years since our 2016 Women’s Premiership, another important milestone in the club’s journey and a reminder of the proud history that exists across all areas of the Jets.

The reunion coincided with a great day of football, giving former players the opportunity to watch the current generation of Jets in action. The Men’s First Grade match produced a dramatic finish, with the Jets narrowly going down by a single point after a goal on the siren.

While the result didn’t fall our way, the atmosphere around the club was outstanding. Seeing former players back on the sidelines, catching up with old mates and supporting today’s teams was a powerful reminder of the connections that football creates and the enduring strength of the Jets community.

The players from the 2006 premiership side helped lay the foundations for the club we have today, and it was wonderful to acknowledge their contribution and welcome them back home.
