2026 Coaching
The Gungahlin Jets are welcome to anyone who wants to assist in coaching a junior team. Coaches occupy the most prominent roles in providing growth and building AFL footy for kids, Club and Code.
Gungahlin Jets Junior objectives are mainly about helping kids become self-reliant achievers in a team footy sense in an environment that also helps support them to become community minded people. AFL NSW/ACT have a requirement on Junior and Senior Clubs to provide developmental opportunities to coaches whereby we seek to provide tools to efficiently help with managerial elements – kids and parents vs expectations.
Our goal is to support all volunteers in these roles by configuring training and games to empower kids to achieve their individual and team footy objectives.
The documents page has a series of documents as a guide to the beginning of Junior Coaching journey, https://coach.afl/ has some great reference material and online courses developed to help junior coaches at an awareness level and it’s a pathway to workshops provided by AFL through AFL NSW/ACT. If you haven’t done so already we encourage junior coaches to join this website for best exploitation of these resources (site membership is free).
Junior Coaches must fulfil ACT Government working with vulnerable people requirements – application or renewal is submitted through the following link (free for community volunteers). https://www.accesscanberra.act.gov.au/business-and-work/working-with-vulnerable-people/apply-for-or-renew-a-wwvp-registration
