Sometimes the most powerful stories aren’t about trophies, ladders or silverware. They’re about grit, mateship, and pushing yourself to see what you’re truly capable of.
Over the weekend, our very own Patrick Aves quietly took on an extraordinary personal challenge — a 100-mile (161km) run, completed in a single 23-hour stint, starting Friday night at 7pm and finishing Saturday evening at 6pm. Through the night. On tired legs. One foot in front of the other.
There was no charity campaign, no fanfare, no grand cause behind it. As Patrick puts it himself, it was simply a test — a challenge to see if he could do it.
And he did.
But like everything at the Jets, this wasn’t a solo effort.
Across the course of the run, the wider Jets family and community stepped up — driving, pacing, checking in, and supporting Patrick at different points. Collectively, they clocked close to 1,000km just to make sure he wasn’t doing it alone.
Special mention goes to the Jets boys — Jake, Gibbo, JB, Hoff & Coach Robbie — who were there on the road when it mattered most, embodying exactly what this club stands for.
What Patrick achieved wasn’t just about endurance. It was about resilience — keeping moving when everything tells you to stop. It was about dedication — committing to something hard, knowing it would hurt. And above all, it was about teamwork — because no challenge like this is ever really done alone.
This is the Jets culture in action. Turning up. Backing each other. Showing that whether it’s on the field, on the sidelines, or on a long stretch of road at 3am, we get around our people.
Patrick didn’t set out to make a statement — but he’s made one all the same.
From everyone at the club: legend effort, Pat. We’re proud to call you one of our own.
