Director Junior Football:

Lisa Burns

Lisa joined the Gungahlin Jets as a player for the senior Women’s team in 2011, after approximately 13 minutes of playing time, Lisa was ruled out for the remainder of the season due to injury.

In early 2012, it became obvious that Lisa was not going to have the stellar, late blooming football career she dreamed of. Enamoured with the Jetettes fraternity, and the Club in general, Lisa took on a role on the senior committee and initiated the annual Gungahlin Jets Pink Footy (Sports) Day.

In 2018, Lisa took on the Auskick Rookie coordinator role and in 2019 will also undertake the role of President for the Junior Club.  Lisa is passionate about the Jets and the Gungahlin and places a high value on participation, engagement, and creating opportunities for all to enjoy local football.

Shane O’Keeffe

Shane is passionate about the Gungahlin Jets having been a member and volunteer with the Club for many years.  He has been Team Manager for his son’s team for the past 7 years and joined the Junior Committee in 2015, taking the role of Registrar.  He joined the Board in 2016 and was Treasurer for two years.  Shane looks forward to continuing his contribution to the Club on the Board in the role as Secretary and as a Junior Committee member.

Shane is a Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years in professional practice.  He is a Partner of McGrathNicol, a national advisory firm, and leads their Canberra office.  In Shane’s professional capacity, he has extensive experience in financial and governance advisory having worked with organisations across the not-for-profit sector, private sector and Australian Government.

James Mair

James has been involved with the Gungahlin juniors for the past 4 years.  Last season he was a member of the Junior Committee and assisted with the Registrar role.  Over the years James has assisted his son’s team in a number of roles including field umpire, boundary umpire, water carrier and goal umpire.  His football dream is to see Carlton return to its rightful spot at the top of the AFL ladder.

James is a Chartered Accountant with 20 years experience in commercial entities.  He is currently working for a large National Property Development company and has extensive experience with financial reporting, budget control, treasury management, technology integration, regulatory compliance and efficiency improvements.

Travis Scholfield

Travis has been involved in Aussie Rules football for approximately 30 years, having played junior footy and early senior footy with various clubs throughout country Victoria.  He first joined the Jets in 2003.  Since that time he has played in excess of 230 games, is a dual premiership player, Jet of the Year, multiple Presidents Award winner, and last year was awarded life membership.

Travis has previously served on the board and senior committee, was an integral board member responsible in the decision to field the inaugural womens team and the establishment of the original Division 2 team in 2010.  Travis’ ambitions are to help the club to continue its development in Division 1, 2 and Rising Stars and to also maintain success of the Jetettes and Juniors

Travis has two small children that will be pulling on the Jets jumper in the next few years.

Terry Evans

2018 saw Terry complete his 12th year on the Jets Junior Committee, fulfilling many different Junior and club wide roles over that time including, Property Manager, Jetstream Editor, Merchandise Coordinator, Website and Social Media Administrator, Junior Registrar, Junior Vice President and Junior President. Terry has 2 children at the Jets who between them have notched up 342 games. Terry was inducted as a Jets Life Member at the completion of the 2016 season and was recognised as the AFL Canberra Junior Volunteer of the Year in 2012.

Terry’s time as Junior President ended in 2018 with the Jets being awarded co-winners of the Prime Ministers Trophy (AFL Canberra Junior Club of the Year).

Lisa Mennen (Netball President)

Lisa is a passionate netballer who has been involved in netball and football for well over 15 years. Lisa was a part of the inaugural Gungahlin Jets Netball Club, which started in 2017, as both a player and committee member. This saw the entrance of two Jets teams in the North Canberra Netball Competition. In 2018 she helped expand the netball club to 4 teams, and will steer the ship as Netball President in 2019.

Lisa has also been involved in the football club since 2015 through her partner’s involvement as a senior coach, and in 2016 took on the role as the senior Social Coordinator, overseeing the reform of formal senior Jets events. Lisa continued in this role until the end of the 2018 season.

Her daughter Matilda is a loudly supportive Jet (as only a three year old can be), and can be seen in Jets colours at both the netball and football on any given Saturday.
