The Gungahlin Jets is pleased to announce that Joel Campbell has returned to the Club after a long period of absence and signed with the Jets for season 2019.

The experienced 24-year-old is a key 189 cm backman who joins the Jets from February 2019 after spending a few years playing senior football in Gippsland, country Victoria. Joel has been applying his trade at the Bairnsdale Redlegs (AFL Gippsland) and most recently at the Lakes Entrance Seagulls, where he was rewarded for his efforts and named as the Centre Half Back in the 2018 AFL East Gippsland team of the year.

Gungahlin Jets Head Coach, John Love, welcomes such experience to the senior group. “Joel brings with him a wealth of football knowledge and our young backline will benefit from his leadership and experience.”

Joel played junior football in Canberra, two years (2006 and 2007) at the Gungahlin Jets and a few years at the Ainslie Football Club. Love is particularly excited about drawing juniors back to the Jets Hangar.

“It’s great to have a returning junior joining our senior group in 2019. It’s something that was legitimately
not on offer when Joel left Canberra to play footy elsewhere. We (the Jets) are becoming a state league club and this signing is pleasing.”

Welcome to the Jets Family, Joel !
