Talented tall ruckman, Declan ‘Sticks’ Gillian, commits to the Gungahlin Jets for 2019.

The 26-year-old has loved the Jets since converting from basketball in 2013. While his preferred position is in the ruck, this year he has spent some time forward and has become a dangerous resting forward that kicks goals.

Sticks is a key leader at the club. As the co-vice captain, he has helped shape the direction of the senior playing group and improved the engagement with the Jets juniors. An important cog for the future of the club.

“I really like where the club has been heading this year. A large emphasis on developing the juniors and also developing a culture that the juniors can take part in. I particularly like the long-term goals that have been set up so that throughout the year we’ve had a great mindset on where we want to be at the end of the season and what we value as a Club”

Sticks is very optimistic about the future of the club.

“I’m confident with our emphasis on developing juniors, our current list of players and ideally a few less injuries, we’ll be playing footy in September 2019”
