Chairman’s Message – COVID-19

Dear Jets’ members,
The Jets’ Board is conscious of the rapidly evolving COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.  We are closely monitoring the situation and considering what our Club should be doing in respect of risks and necessary precautions.  At the forefront of our mind is the health and wellbeing of our Jets’ members and the broader community.

We reinforce the need for all members to continue to monitor the government guidance:

The Board will continue to look for guidance to the AFL and Netball Australia.  Both these organisations appear to be monitoring the situation closely but do not yet have a firm position to help guide leagues/clubs in respect of the upcoming seasons.  We expect they will provide greater clarity in coming days/weeks.

In the meantime, we reinforce the importance of:

  • members who may be unwell, even with symptoms of a cold, refrain from attending training or any Jets’ events and notify the relevant people within the Club
  • practice high levels of hygiene as much as possible before and after training and games – thoroughly washing hands and using hand sanitiser
  • if you are returning from higher risk overseas countries that you closely monitor your situation before returning to training or Jets’ events
  • if you have been in close contact with a person that has contracted COVID-19 that you quarantine yourself for the suitable period of time

At this point we remain committed to our Season Launch on 20 March but will closely monitor developments next week ahead of the evening.

We will be in touch with further updates as matters become clearer.
Kind regards

Shane O’Keeffe
